- Monthly Retainer
Under this arrangement, you hire us to work a certain number of hours each month. We can work on any number of projects (i.e.: grant writing, funding research, educational programs, teacher materials, exhibition labels, etc...) during the length of the agreement. Working on retainer provides the most flexibility because it allows us to shift from one project to another as necessary. One important advantage of a retainer agreement is that we block out time in advance for completion of your projects.
- Project Basis
We provide you with a fixed contract price for the project discussed. In some cases, depending on the nature of the project, a price range is given.
- Hourly
We also complete projects working by the hour. If the scope of work needs to remain flexible, or if the project can be completed quickly, this may be the best course of action. There is a minimum fee for all hourly projects.
General Information
We provide a written estimate for the scope of work required for your project, based on our discussions with you. If you would like to engage us, we prepare a letter of agreement. Upon signing, a deposit of 1/3 the total cost of the project is due.
R&L Consulting does not work on contingency and does not take a commission from grants received.
In most cases, we work with clients all over the country via phone, email and fax. We can also travel to your site to work in person with your staff. Travel expenses are billed in addition to our fee.
Many of our clients have found that working with us on a contract basis is more cost efficient than hiring full-time staff, or assigning new, labor-intensive projects to current staff.
Your needs determine the nature of our arrangement. Several clients contract with us on an ongoing basis to complete specific projects, and others have kept us on retainer for a number of years to work as long-distance staff members in different departments. We understand the reality of limited resources and the need for flexibility, and can work within your parameters.
