Phillip Rhodes
Birmingham, AL

Phillip Rhodes is a freelance editorial consultant. While on staff at Garden & Gun magazine, he helped lead G&G to a National Magazine Award for General Excellence in 2015, and produced and co-authored the The Southerner’s Cookbook, a 2016 New York Times best-seller and James Beard Award nominee. Previously he was executive managing editor at Cooking Light magazine, where he introduced such programs as the Sunday Strategist digital meal-planning service and the Cooking Light Garden. Prior to that, he was nutrition editor for Men’s Health magazine, contributed to the brand’s best-selling Abs Diet books, and worked on the launch team for Women’s Health magazine. Before embarking on a career in consumer publications, he produced corporate communications for such clients as HGTV and Tennessee Valley Authority.

 

Phillip was born in North Carolina, raised in Tennessee, received a B.A. in communication arts from Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, and resides in Birmingham, Alabama.
